First Rough Edit.
|
This is our first rough edit. The editor structured the scenes in a way that she felt cut the film down to just under two minutes as with all our shoots it would've been too long, however, when observing it I noticed a fault in the narrative; with just showing the scene with the youths and not the one with no one at the front door created no enigma as it just looked like they'd got into the house at the end- this was not the effect we intended.
We viewed this to our target audience and together we collaborated ideas in how the film could be improved. This included: -adding the production company at the beginning and editing some credits. -adding music to build suspense as it lacked any fluidity and tension without. -edit the narrative to make an enigma filled one. -hold the shot with the phone for longer so the audience can fully read it in time and understand that she is alone. |
Final Film.
This is the final film.
It differs from the initial script but contains the same enigma and essence in the narrative. During the filming and editing process we came across ways in which to develop and improve the film; this was either because of the space we had, the amount of shots that could be condensed or the problem we found in the editing process with the film going over the two minutes. We decided to erase the scene with the youths playing 'knock-door-run' and just have Ivy going to the door and no one being there as it captures the same tension but without the film/introduction going on for too long. This meant that we had to rearrange some of our shots in order for it to make sense; this did interrupt the flow on one occasion but with the music to sound bridge it, it didn't read as a problem.
I have edited the script to fit the final film...
